Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox Recognizes Spay/Neuter Awareness Month

The City of Tuscaloosa, AL has issued a Mayor's Proclamation for World Spay Day, which is on Tuesday, February 28, 2012.

World Spay Day is presented by The Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society International in partnership with animal welfare organizations, veterinary professionals, businesses, and individuals worldwide to shine a spotlight on spay/neuter as a proven means of saving animals’ lives.

Hottest Hounds, Tuscaloosa

Reserve your spot now to be a part of the Hottest Hounds, Tuscaloosa! The Hottest Hounds is a super fun coffee table book to be released in spring 2012 that features dogs at some of the hottest spots in Tuscaloosa.

The Hottest Hounds folks will be taking pictures January 28th through January 31st at places around town like the University of Alabama campus, Capital Park and Manderson Landing. Any and all precious pooches are invited to be a part of the book!

The cost for your dog to be in The Hottest Hounds, Tuscaloosa is $50 for a half page, $100 for a full page and $200 for a two page spread. The price includes one 5x7 photo of your dog/dogs. A portion of the sale of each book will beneﬁt T-Town PAWS.

JOIN Alabama Voters for Responsible Animal Legislation (AVRAL)

AVRAL is a grassroots, nonpartisan political action committee (PAC) that works to influence legislation and support the passage of policies favorable to the welfare of companion animals. T-Town PAWS joins AVRAL in the belief that the current approach to animal welfare in Alabama is inefficient, too costly for taxpayers, and does little to address pressing animal welfare issues in this state.

So, how can YOU help?

If we are to help animals in Alabama, getting political is the ONLY way to do it. Simply caring about animals isn’t enough. We have to work to get politicians and animal-friendly legislation in place. We can only do that by building voting blocs. So, spread the word."
